2018 SWG Donation: And the Winner Is....
This year the recipient of the Annual SWG Donation is The Maynard House!
Since 1978, The Maynard House provides affordable home-like overnight accommodations for adult patients, their caregivers and families, while receiving treatment at medical centers in the Upper Valley Region. They strive to lessen the burden and expense of travel during medically challenging times so that resources can be used to care for loved ones.
Members of the organization attended the Annual Holiday Party to receive our donation and speak to the group more about how they help New Englanders in so many communities.
Update from the 2017 Donation Recipient: CLiF
Thanks to the donation given in 2017, CLiF was able to kick off the Year of the Book program at Bristol Elementary School in Bristol, NH. The school is made up of 225 kids of which 47% qualify for the free and reduced lunch program and 48% of the student body scores below “proficient” in English Language Arts.
Year of the Book helps build a culture of literacy by providing the students, parents and teachers at a sponsored school with $25,000 worth of literacy programs (writing workshops, author visits, family literacy night, parent seminars, story-telling), support and new books over the school year. It also receives new books for the school library, classrooms and grants for teachers to support their literacy initiatives. In addition, every student is able to select up to ten brand-new books of their choice to keep.
Thank you, one and all, for participating in helping choose these wonderful organizations as recipients!
